Description
Early one December morning, while it was still dark, I turned on a light by the window to have my devotion. It was Christmas, a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. As I read Matthew 1:23, my heart filled with joy.
“Behold a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”
The sun began to rise and at the burst of dawn’s light, the darkness fled in the room where I sat. My thoughts then turned to how dark and destitute is our sinful state, but how Jesus Christ came to save us from our sins. Looking out the window, I rejoiced with thanksgiving that Jesus saved me.
Just as dawn’s light burst through the window, the words and music burst into my heart as I began to write the song, “God is with Us.”
