I Must tell You (Song)

I met a Jewish lady, Victoria, in Mexico City, and over the next few months, we became dear friends. We enjoyed one another’s company and often would go to the local coffee shop and talk about the Tanakh and the Old Testament saints. One day, while having coffee, she looked over at me and said, “Mary, you seem to have this joy about you and a peace and love that is present in your life. Whenever I’m with you, you are always smiling, expressing happiness and hope.”

I reached over and took her by the hand and said, “Oh, Victoria, I must tell you of Jesus Christ. He is the reason for the love, joy, and peace that you see in my life. He has brought me happiness and hope.”

I continued to share with Victoria how Jesus Christ is the Messiah and how He is the Saviour of the world. She listened intently to the gospel and then asked if she could come to church with me. Thrilled I said, “Of course you can come with me!”.

That Sunday, I enjoyed introducing her to the church family. Then, the church service began and with her eyes fixed on the Pastor, Victoria intently listened to the gospel once more.

During the invitation, Victoria lifted her hand to be saved. She and I then went to a quiet room where we opened God’s Word and read together the scriptures of the gospel. Victoria, bowing her head, asked the Lord Jesus Christ to forgive her of her sin and save her. When she finished praying, she looked at me with a smile and said, “I now know that Jesus Christ is the Messiah.”

That evening, I thought of how precious it was to be with Victoria when she called on the Lord to save her. I then picked up a pen and began to write and sing the song, ”I Must Tell You.”
