Description
“For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth: And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God: Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another;though my reins be consumed within me.” – Job 19:25-27
Sitting by his side, time was drawing nigh for my daddy to pass on to Heaven. One week shy of his 92nd Birthday and because of his new birth in Christ, Daddy was about to begin life forever. By believing on Jesus Christ and calling on Him to save his soul, he was never going to die. Oh, yes, his old and worn physical body was to return to the earth, but because of Jesus, Daddy would never taste death. His last breath would be his first step into heaven for all eternity for God Almighty had given him everlasting life.
With Daddy resting peacefully, I sat quietly as the nurses and doctors continued checking on him. I realized their care for him was soon to be over but the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary and His resurrection was very soon to be greatly displayed in Daddy’s life.
It was in this moment in dedication to my daddy that I began to write the words and music to “I Called on Jesus.” I would like to share a poem that I wrote in dedication to him.
