“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” – Isaiah 41:10
Arriving at the funeral home, I made my way to my dear Christian friend, Aurora, to give her my heartfelt love and condolences for the loss of her husband. The silent teardrops that fell blended in with the pattering of the raindrops from the storm outside. After the rumbling of the thunder stopped, a sweet melodious sound began to resonate through the room. Aurora looked up toward heaven as those around her sang out in one accord one of the greatest hymns ever written, “It is Well with my Soul.”
Her face shown with an assurance of peace and joy knowing that she would one day see her beloved again in heaven for all eternity where there will be no more saying goodbye. Gazing upon her as those around her sang, it was evident that God almighty was holding her in His loving hands of grace and strength.
The next morning, as I thought of the great hope and assurance of heaven because of salvation through Jesus Christ, I began to sing and write the song, “God’s Good Hand.”
