Description

“Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting” – Psalms 139:23-24

In the stillness of the morning as I prayed, my thoughts soon shifted to the tasks of that day. Pausing with a deep breath, I picked up my Bible and began reading God’s precious promises. But, within a moment, my thoughts turned once again to the cares of the day.

Knowing that God knows my thoughts, and that I was letting the day take hold of me before it even got started, I prayed, “Forgive me for being so occupied with the cares of the day. Please direct my heart and let nothing stand in the way to keep me from You.”

My prayer then turned into a song as I began to write and sing the words to “The Direction of my Heart” The Bible speaks about being troubled with cares in Luke 10:39-42:

“And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word. But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things: But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”
